walkSTEM® in DFW

Currently there are 20 institutional partners and public places in and around Dallas featured on our platform, the talkSTEM YouTube channel. These video playlists are freely available for schools and out of school groups to utilize as virtual field trips, in-person field trips, enrichment while learning STEM concepts, and exemplars of interdisciplinary activity. In addition to these produced walkSTEM tours, educators, parents, or community organizations can create their own walkSTEM in their school, neighborhood park, home, or at community landmarks. talkSTEM provides a robust toolkit for the creation of a walkSTEM tour which includes best practices, suggested standards-align concepts, and insightful discussion questions. These resources can also be used for walkSTEM Clubs and Camps, either as standalone projects or as part of a series of activities used in a club or camp.

We invite all school groups and other visitors to utilize these free experiences. These are great for all who are up for taking a look at their environments in a fun and different way! You will notice things you may have passed by many times, appreciate the unexpected connections between art, architecture, math, science, engineering, and technology, and flex those problem solving muscles. Grownups, families, educators, student groups (K-12) are all welcome. If you go on any of these stops (and you are free to take in one or more stops in these walks), we’d love to see your selfies, comments, and questions. Use #walkSTEM.

We are excited to partner with the Otocast mobile platform! Many of our experiences are now available at self guided audio tours. You can download the Otocast app for free your iOS and Android device. Otocast is your gateway to over 3,500 points of interest around the country. Our tours are suitable for a wide range of ages.

You are also very welcome to go on a virtual walkSTEM tour through our collection of short videos on talkSTEM YouTube Channel.
